![]() ![]() ![]() He is the author of 13 books and the widely read blog/podcast, “Israel from the Inside.” Rabbi Gordis’ history of Israel, “Israel: A Concise History of a Nation Reborn,” received the 2016 National Jewish Book Award as Book of the Year. Rabbi Gordis is Koret distinguished fellow at Shalem College, an elite undergraduate institution of higher education established in Jerusalem in 2013. On Saturday morning, Rabbi Gordis will lead Torah Study at 9:45 in the Finger Board Room and via Zoom. Following services, everyone is invited to a reception in his honor, which will include a moderated conversation with Beth Israel Rabbi David Lyon in Wolff-Toomim Hall. He will speak during Friday night services beginning at 6:30. Rabbi Gordis will be scholar in residence at Congregation Beth Israel April 21-22. Rabbi Daniel Gordis offers such a discourse in his latest book, “Impossible Takes Longer” (Ecco). Somewhere between the two extremes is a moderate discourse that can acknowledge Israel’s successes, critique its failures and offer a useful assessment of thinking about Israel’s future.
